2012 NCMF Concerts

Wednesday, December 26, 2012 – Nightingale Concert Hall, UNR

7:00 p.m. – All-Debussy 150th Birthday Concert
Starting the 2012 Festival in spectacular fashion, pianist Pascal Rogé, the most acclaimed French pianist of his generation, and his wife Ami Hakuno Rogé present a concert dedicated to the music of Claude Debussy, in celebration of the 150th anniversary of Debussy’s birth.

Thursday, December 27, 2012 – South Reno United Methodist Church

12:00 p.m. – Robert Levin Lecture
Famed pianist and scholar Robert Levin presents another of his fascinating lectures, “Composing Mozart.”

Friday, December 28, 2012 – Nightingale Concert Hall, UNR

7:00 p.m. – Masterworks Concert No.1
Opening Night includes works by Prokofiev, Dvorak, Schumann and Fauré.

Saturday, December 29, 2012 – South Reno United Methodist Church

12:00 p.m. – All-Bach Concert
This concert features virtuoso music by J.S. Bach for solo violin and cello. Lunch will be served right after the performance.

2:00 p.m. – Afternoon Sonatas

Violin Sonatas by Mendelssohn and Brahms and a viola sonata by Rebecca Clarke are presented.

7:00 p.m. – Masterworks Concert No. 2
This concert includes string quintets by Mendelssohn and Brahms, as well as works by Chausson and Fauré.

Sunday, December 30, 2012 – Nightingale Concert Hall, UNR

12:00 p.m. – Sonatas Concert

Works by Beethoven, Tcherepnin, Schumann and Saint-Saëns are featured.

3:00 p.m. – Masterworks Concert No. 3
The Clarinet Trio by Brahms and piano quintets by Saint-Saëns and Schumann are among the offerings.

Monday, December 31, 2012 (New Year’s Eve) – Nightingale Concert Hall, UNR

11:00 a.m. – Aficionado’s Concert
This concert features little-known masterpieces by Martinu, Lutoslawski and Bloch.

2:00 p.m. – Piano Extravaganza
This year’s spectacular Festival pianists are highlighted in a full-length recital.

7:00 p.m. – Masterworks Concert No. 4 – New Year’s Eve Celebration
Ring in the New Year with the RCO! Major works by Ravel, Beethoven, Arensky, and Bartók are performed along with dazzling showpieces.
