College Concerto Competition (January 2011)

For over twenty years the Reno Chamber Orchestra has presented the College Concerto Competition, the only competition of its kind in the state of Nevada. The participants, who must either attend a Nevada college or be a Nevada resident attending college out of state, compete for cash prizes and the opportunity to perform with the RCO in one of its regular season concerts. Past Competition participants have gone on to significant careers as soloists, orchestral musicians, and teachers. Many RCO enthusiasts regard the College Concerto Competition as one of the highlights of the music year. Admission is free, and everyone is welcome to attend.

Derby Day (May 2011)

“Derby Day,” a benefit for the RCO, is presented the first Saturday of every May. “Derby Day” is a “day at the races” that includes lunch, mint juleps, live and silent auctions, prizes for the most creative hats, some friendly wagering, and the Kentucky Derby live on big screen televisions. The auctions are always full of desirable and one-of-a-kind items, including art, jewelry, gift baskets, event tickets, and dinners at our area’s finest restaurants. All proceeds benefit the Reno Chamber Orchestra.

An Elegant Evening of Music (June 2011)

Each June the Reno Chamber Orchestra invites you to enjoy “An Elegant Evening of Music,” featuring RCO musicians and friends performing chamber music at a lovely Reno home, followed by champagne and desserts.
